Communications Division

As SALAR is an umbrella organisation and the largest employer's organisation in Sweden, communications is a key issue. The Association aims to keep all interested parties fully informed of our views to help improve conditions for our members. As such the Communications Division is in charge of strategic communications in order to strengthen trust in SALAR and the local government sector as a whole.

The Communications Division is responsible for SALAR's overall communication including dealing with the media, the website, publications, presentation materials and the Association's communications policy and strengthening the Association's brand name.

The Division acts as a support for the political representatives, the CEO and experts inside the Association in formulating and spreading the Association's views on issues of interest. The Division is also responsible for improving meeting formats in order to enable our members to meet and exchange best practice.

The Communications Division is divided into two sections: the Web and Information section, and the Press and Public Affairs Section.

Web and Information Section

The section is responsible for the website, both technically and conceptually. The website www.skl.se is a key tool in our communication and is often the primary tool used by outside interests in finding information about the Association and events that are organised.

The section is responsible for arranging major events, conferences and meetings for the Association.

SALAR publishes a great deal of written material including pamphlets, books and reports. The section co-ordinates the production of publications.

A key task for the section is to strengthen trust in and recognition of the SALAR brand name and logo. As such, the section is responsible for amongst other things the Association's mission statement.

The section is also responsible for the Association's intranet that keeps all employees fully informed of key activities and events.

Press and Public Affairs Section

One of SALAR's key tasks is to make sure that the views of our members are represented accurately and consistently in the media. The Association prides itself in giving the media good service, including a 24 hour press line, in order to ensure that our views are heard.

The section works with the political leadership, the CEO and the Association divisions in organising press conferences, setting up interviews and writing press releases.

The press office is also responsible for media monitoring and analysis.

Information officers working in this section are responsible for the long-term opinion making on priority issues for the Association. As such, the section works closely with the Association´s experts in formulating important messages.
